A real mechanic breaks those bolts loose while the belt is still on. This is 100 unnecessary.I always bust the bolts loose first before the belt is off to avoid this type of stuff.Real mechanic would break bolts loose before removing belt. Time is money.Take the bolts out with an impact gun and you can hold it with your hand.Yes , usually loosen before pulling belt , I have an actual tool with a belt strap to hold pulleys I bought 30 years ago. But let's be fair , if you have a torn belt that came off and you happen to be doing a water pump, it would be useful. On some jobs, I pull the pulley, and I don't have to mess with the alt, or ps belt tention when reinstalling. Just recheck for proper tension.
