I soak the bottom half overnight where the split ends then glue and clamp lets the wood fibers compact easier then as it dries fibers are relaxed to new stresses.Yep.... the stresses in the board remain...it will split near the glue joint.You could see it splitting straight after it's wood glue.This actually works I’ve seen a teacher do this with school glue on fence wood when I as in wood shop and it was as if the seperate wods became one.
